15 Fun AND Useful Push Present Ideas for Every Mama

January 22, 2025 by Alexa Bontrager

Let’s talk push presents. If you’ve never heard of a push present, you’re about to love me. A push present is something husbands get their wives for pushing out a baby (or however your baby enters the world). For all the hard work you did carrying a baby in your belly for NINE WHOLE MONTHS. Whoever invented this, genius. I honestly had never heard of this until I was pregnant and all my friends were asking me what I was getting for my push present. I had no idea. If you aren’t sure what to ask for, what’s appropriate, or what’s off limits (honestly nothing). I’m here to help. Here’s a list of some ideas you can send right along to your husband to make you a happy new momma. Help him help you.

1. Jewelry

A pendant necklace, meaningful bracelet, boujee earrings. Made by Mary has high quality jewelry that is very meaningful. This necklace is precious because it has birth month flowers so you can order the flower corresponding with the month baby’s due! And they’re stackable so you can add another pendant for the next baby – so fun. You can also customize a pendant with initials! They have customizable bracelets, earrings, and rings. Here are some other fun jewelry ideas from Amazon! This gold filled dainty bracelet. This 14k gold Pendant initial necklace. You can’t go wrong with gold hoops. And if you’re feeling boujee, diamond earrings are a girls best friend.

2. Spa Treatment

Massage. Pedicure. Manicure. Facial. All of the above. You really can’t go wrong with a spa treatment. I’m sure momma has built up tension, tiredness, and stress. And nothing will sound better than some relaxing spa time. A little pampering time to make her feel a little more like herself again.

3. Boujee Bag

A cute little (or big) bag to remind you of your babe every time you use it. Here are some fun ideas! This Calvin Klein bag is just adorable. Any Lulu Lemon bag – I’m obsessed with this one. Okay and this puffer bag is trendy and practical. She can carry all the things in here all while being so so cutie.

4. Family Photo Shoot

Hire a photographer for some family pics in that first month of life. You just added a new member to your family so documenting the new precious moments with them are a MUST. It will be so meaningful to look back at the fresh newborn stages and remember all the feelings and emotions you felt when you look back at these pictures.

5. Mama + Me Matching Outfits

Okay how adorable. Etsy has a million customizable options for this. You can do matching sweatshirts, entire outfits, headbands or bows for girls, matchy socks, even seen matching Nike shoes! Amazon also has some great options. Here are some of my favs! This matchy mama + mini sweatshirt can be for boy or girl! Okay I’m dying at these matchy winter hats. Also these baseball hats are precious. These fun headbands and scrunchies for the girls. Umm okay also these baby Nike shoes and these mama Nike shoes.

6. Lululemon

Honestly anything from Lulu will make her feel like a million bucks – leggings, a cute sweatshirt, a fun coat. Even a Lululemon gift card so she can go on a little shopping spree.

7. Comfies

A bathrobe, matching pj set, slippers, fuzzy socks, load her up. She is going to be lounging for at least a couple of days (hopefully a couple of weeks) and needs all the soft pj’s. It’s always a little confidence boost to put on some fresh, cutie pj’s.

Here are a couple more bathrobe options: This lightweight knit bathrobe is still so soft but a little less warm. An even lighter weight (and adorable) option here.

Here’s a summer matching pj set option! Either way, the button down top is KEY for nursing mama’s!

8. Shopping Spree

You could honestly give her cold hard cash to shop shop shop. (When she’s feeling up to it). She’ll be figuring out her new body and may not fit in all of her pre-baby clothes (guilty) so new clothes she feels confident in will be essential and exciting!

9. Water Bottle

This seems simple, but it’s a NEED. She will literally be carrying it everywhere. Especially if she’s planning to nurse, she is going to be SO thirsty ALL the time. She needs water by her bed, by the couch, on every floor, in the car, wherever she is. If you want to see your gift actually used by her, a cutie new water bottle might be just the thing. This is my current favorite water bottle. But I’ll link the Stanley too because they’re all the rage.

10. Kindle

Snuggling baby will definitely keep mama busy, but when baby is sleeping or not on mom, a kindle is honestly the perfect entertainment for her. Whether in bed or on the couch, this will keep her relaxed and entertained all at the same time.

11. Mama Gear

Honestly anything that says mama, especially for a first time mom, is just the best. Mama is such an important title and role, honestly all encompassing. Something that says mama is such a fun way to announce it to the world. You can do a cutie necklace, sweatshirt, or hat. Here are a couple fun ideas!

My husband bought me this crewneck mama sweatshirt and I’m obsessed. Also here for this mama bear sweatshirt sweatshirt.

My husband also bought me this mama necklace which I wore every day for Miles’ first year of life.

Here’s another hat option for basic moms haha.

12. Cozy Blanket

Okay this just feels so nostalgic to get a cozy blanket to snuggle your newborn baby in. It will be so soft and warm, and honestly a present for your baby too. Even when your baby grows up you can have the precious snuggle memories with your soft blanket. I’m obsessed with this UGG blanket from Amazon. Also this giant King size blanket, you could fit the whole fam in here!

13. Meal Train or Meal Service

Honestly just setting up a meal train for her with friends is SO helpful! Making dinner will be the last thing on her mind after having a baby, so lining up people to do it for her would be chef’s kiss. And a gift to you too! Signing up for a meal service is also a great option. Depending on the service, you or mom may have to do a little pulling together to get the meal on the table, but it will be so much easier than coming up with a meal from scratch!

14. Beast Blender

This is the most aesthetic, practical blender you will find. It’s a mini blender so you blend your personal smoothie in it and it comes with a lid and straw so you can take it on the go with you. As an on the go mom, this will make her feel very put together when she makes her smoothie in a rush and has to bring it with her. It comes in very cute colors. You can also blend a lot of other fun things in this too – it’s very heavy duty. Especially if your wife is into smoothies, this will be a win. I’m obsessed with mine.

15. Peloton/Gym Membership

Okay obviously this won’t be used right after birth. But when she’s feeling up for it, this will be coveted time. Getting to move your body feels so good after lounging for a couple of weeks/months for healing. The peloton would be an AMAZING gift especially if she prefers home workouts. The YMCA is very kid friendly and has childcare available so mama can do her thing while her kids are being cared for! OR, if she has childcare – a gym that offers boxing, or yoga, barre classes, or honestly Planet Fitness, there’s so many fun options.

Push presents can range from $0 to honestly $1000+, but I would say between $50-$400 is a very reasonable sweet spot. If you’re on a budget, you can definitely find something meaningful for under $100. Many of the items on my list, in fact! But also, mama just gave up her body for 9 whole months to carry your precious babe, so don’t be afraid to go big if you’re feeling spendy. (I saw a facebook post of someone who got a car for their push present – that’s VERY spendy). Ultimately, it’s the thought that counts. Taking the time to acknowledge the sacrifice her body made (mentally, physically, and emotionally) will take you miles and miles (and miles).

Please let me know all your thoughts on push presents! Have you heard of them? What did you get for yours? I’m still planning to have more babies so I’m here for all of your ideas. Check out my other posts on how you can prepare for birth here!

Disciplining your children is hard. There are so many ways to do it. So many different opinions. So many different strategies. Mom reading on a bench

When I was younger, I was obsessed with books. I’d read in the car, walking, laying in bed until 1 am, literally anywhere. Then I hit college. Where they force you to read text books. Meh. It made me resent books. I didn’t pick up a book for years after I graduated. Because I didn’t…
